9) "Unwritten" - Natasha Bedingfield

Be the author of your life and turn the page to a whole new chapter with this pop classic. In order to start writing on the right foot, play this tune at 11:57:29 PM. When the year flips pages at midnight you'll hear the lyric "Today is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten." How will your prologue begin?

8) "Why Worry" - Set It Off

Leave your worries in 2022 and welcome positivity into 2023 with Set It Off's "Why Worry." Put on your dancing shoes and get your jazz hands ready, because if you play this pop-punk anthem exactly at 11:57:10 PM you'll hear "Tell me why, why, worry at all" before jamming to the rest of the song and dancing away your cares.

7) "Pink G-String" - Scene Queen

Bring the best of Bimbocore with you for the new year and ring in 2023 with the iconic Scene Queen. Grab your besties so you can twerk in the circle pit at midnight. Play this iconic track at 11:58:50 PM to hear the legendary lyric, "twerkle pit, twerk in the circle pit" as the ball drops. It's the best way to celebrate. Oh, and don't forget to wear pink!

6) "Dynamite" - BTS

Have you hopped on the K-Pop wagon? If so, you'll want to kick off 2023 with a song worth lighting it up for. Perfect for fireworks or a simple bonfire, you'll be certain to let in the new year with a kick. Play this song at 11:57:24 to hear "light it up like dynamite" at midnight. The high notes are sure to bring high positivity and a great bang to your celebration plans.

5) "Futures" - Jimmy Eat World

"I always believed in futures, I hope for better..." Hope for the best with this pop-punk banger. I'm a huge fan of Jimmy Eat World, and am especially a fan of their opening tracks. Much like an opening track, the first song you hear sets the mood for the year. If you want to say hello to good times play this track at 11:56:52 PM and you'll hear "Say hello to good times" just in time for midnight.

4) "Nerve Damage" - Saving Vice

Lock the doors on 2022 and get your champagne ready with a metalcore melody worth popping bottles open for. If you play this song at 11:58:31 PM you'll be able to pop open your champagne bottle at midnight to the lyrics, "pass the champagne." That's a lyric worth toasting to. Eyes up!

3) "Identify" - The Maine

Some things are out of our hands, but this doesn't have to be one of them. Start this year with a banger by playing this pop-punk bop at exactly 11:59:23 PM. Once midnight hits you'll hear "3,2,1, here comes the fireworks baby." Bring on the fireworks and the new year!

2) "Yule Shoot Your Eye Out" - Fall Out Boy

This song isn't just a Christmas song. Sure, it's named after a Christmas movie and has the whole premise of "Merry Christmas, I could care less," but this track doubles as the perfect New Years Eve anthem. If all you wanted for the holidays was an eighth Fall Out Boy album-- well same. Unfortunately we must wait, but we can manifest a new single by starting out 2023 the right way. Play this holiday tune at 11:58:35 to hear Patrick Stump serenade you into the new year with "Happy New Years, baby."

1) "Together We'll Ring in the New Year" - Motion City Soundtrack

Topping off this countdown is my personal favorite and an ultimate classic from 2005-- "Together We'll Ring in the New Year." I have committed this song to memory and continue to ring in each year with the same scene energy. At exactly 11:57:54 I press play, making it so the first lyric I hear each year be "This must be it, welcome to the new year." Immediately the song ends, yet I have just been greeted in the best way possible. What do I play next? Well that varies, but probably something off of this list!

Honorable Mentions:

To start your year with the infamous "G-note" be sure to play My Chemical Romance's "The Black Parade at precisely 11:59:59.

Fans of marvel, assemble! If you start Avengers: Endgame at 9:41:32 PM you'll hear Captain America calling the Avengers to assemble as the clock strikes midnight.
